Remote Area Surcharge
A remote area surcharge may apply when pickup or delivery is outside a courier’s standard service footprint — for example harder-to-reach locations that require extra handling or longer transit. On LinkEx, applicable remote fees are usually reflected in the quote for that courier and destination.
1. What it is
Couriers define “remote” or out-of-area locations in their own networks and rate guides. Shipments to or from those locations can attract an additional surcharge on top of base transportation charges.
2. When it applies on LinkEx
If the destination (or origin) is classified as remote by the selected partner, their remote area surcharge may be included in the landed cost used for your LinkEx quote. Classification follows the partner’s published remote-area lists and service rules — not a separate LinkEx map.
- Provide accurate addresses and cities so quotes can reflect the correct zone.
- If an address is later reclassified as remote by the carrier, additional charges may apply under their terms.
3. How courier partners define remote areas
Each partner maintains its own remote or extended-coverage list. Fees may be flat per shipment, per kilogram, or built into zonal rates. Coverage and naming (remote area, out of area, extended delivery, and similar) vary by carrier and country.

4. How you see it
On LinkEx, remote area costs are typically rolled into the compare/book price for the selected option rather than shown as a standalone checkout line. Partner invoices or label documents may describe the fee differently.
